Song Placement in Film and TV
1. Songs that we place in TV and film vary because of the many facets and variables involved in the process.
2. When a fee is paid for the use of the song, we normally split it 50/50 with the copyright owner of the song.
3. Songs placed in TV and film and eventually air on TV or in a theatrical release generate royalties from performance rights societies that the song is registered with such as ASCAP, BMI or SESAC.
4. Recordings of songs that are owned by other writers and publishers need to be cleared before they can be recorded. Prices vary and are determined by the amount of units being pressed up or distributed through digital downloads.
